where every child gets a role, every voice matters, and no one gets cut.

What is Mainstage Troupe?

This isn't a troupe. It's an internship.
Mainstage is a supplemental program for any 9th-12th grader and up who's serious about a future in this field — and it works nothing like the training kids are used to. Instead of another rehearsal room full of other students, Mainstage puts teens directly on or backstage with WonderStage, our professional theater company, and gives them direct access to the working professionals who do this for a living.

No one can look at a teenager and know what they're capable of becoming — not from an audition, a ranking, or a resume. The only real way to find out if this career is actually for you is to do the work alongside people who already are. Not a classroom version of the industry. Not a promise of Broadway. Just real stages, real professionals, and real answers, before anyone's asking them to bet their future on a degree that can't guarantee any of it.

This is where they find out if it's real for them, too.

Why Parents Choose FAME Mainstage Troupe

Every Child Gets a Spot

There are no auditions to join Mainstage Troupe. Every child who registers belongs here. Casting for roles within the show happens internally — but the program itself is open to anyone who wants to be part of it. Always. If we need to, we will add more Troupes.

A Real Show. A Real Accomplishment.

This isn't a recital or a showcase. FAME Troupe performs a full production in front of a real audience. The kind of night your child will remember for the rest of their life — and honestly, so will you.

Unlimited Group Classes Included

Your Troupe tuition includes free access to all of our group classes: voice, piano, flute, acting, and more.

Confidence That Follows Them Everywhere

Parents tell us their kids speak up more in class, try new things, and carry themselves differently after Troupe. That's not a coincidence. When a child discovers they can hold a stage, something shifts in them that has nothing to do with theater.

A Community They Didn't Know They Needed

Troupe kids become each other's people. They work hard together, struggle together, and celebrate together on opening night. Some of these friendships last long after the final curtain.

How Mainstage Works

Step 1

Register Online

Open to any 9th+ grader and up who's serious about a future in this field. No audition required to apply. This program is designed to be in addition to any music theater program.

Step 2

Schedule an Interview

Instead of an audition, interns sit down with our team to talk about their goals, experience, and what they want out of the industry. This is where the roadmap begins.

Step 3

Plan Your Semester

Every intern is paired with an industry professional who mentors them in building a semester plan around what they actually want to learn — performing, tech, directing, or something else entirely.

Step 4

Shine On Or Off Stage

Interns get real, hands-on experience alongside WonderStage's professional company — on stage or in whatever part of the industry they're aiming for.

Mainstage Troupe is Perfect for Highschool Kids Who...

  • Already know this is what they want to do with their life
  • Have outgrown being the best in the room and want to be challenged by people who do this for a living
  • Ask more questions about the industry than anyone around them can answer
  • Have never worked alongside professionals before but have a feeling they're ready to
  • Want mentors, not just teachers
  • Are done pretending "maybe theater" isn't a real plan

What Parents

Are Saying

Charlotte started small and dreamed BIG, and is exploding with confidence and desire to perform. We credit FAME with increasing her ability to make presentations at school, church, and in the bigger arts community. She has been nurtured into a leader and has taken these skills beyond the walls of FAME.

We cannot say enough great things about Fame and what it has meant for our daughters! It's been an amazing way for them to explore their interests in acting and theater, and the joy in seeing their confidence grow over our two seasons is hard to put into words. Their troupe has become a little community for them and we are grateful to Ms. Mary for keeping it running smoothly! She genuinely cares for these kids and it shows in everything she does. We are so lucky to have found this program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need experience to join?

Sort of. At this point most kids have had some sort of experience in theater either in school or after school. This program is designed to take a deeper look. So while we always welcome beginners, if you’ve had any experience, it will help you make a choice what you’d like to work with while with your mentor.

What's the commitment?

The Mainstage Troupe runs for one semester. Financial commitment is for the entire semester.

Are there auditions?

Not to join the program. Once enrolled, an interview needs to be scheduled to connect you with the correct mentor.

What show will they perform?

Depending on what they’re interested in (performing, tech, costumes, sets, producing, backstage, etc, Mainstage Troupers will be involved in two WonderStage shows per semester.

What if my child can't make every rehearsal?

We understand life happens. Please communicate absences in advance. Consistent attendance is important for the ensemble.
