What are Group Classes?
Some of the best learning happens in a room full of kids who are all figuring it out together.
Group classes at FAME give children the chance to build performing arts skills alongside their peers — learning not just from their instructor, but from each other. There's something that happens in a group setting that private lessons can't replicate: the courage that comes from watching the kid next to you try something, and deciding you will too. Group classes are perfect for SOA auditions too!
At FAME, group classes cover:
Group Singing
Vocal technique, harmony, and performance skills built together in a room that loves music as much as your kid does.

Acting (Coed)
Theater games, scene work, and the kind of creative risk-taking that only happens when everyone in the room feels safe.
Acting (Boys)
We’ve been asked for years. The same great training in a space designed specifically for boys, where they can be loud, take risks, and surprise themselves.

Group Piano
Keyboard fundamentals learned alongside peers at a similar level, because everything is more fun with company.
Group Flute
Discover wind instruments in a joyful, low-pressure environment

Group Guitar
Chords, rhythm, and real songs, learned side by side in a room that loves music as much as your kid does.
Class offerings vary by semester based on student interest. New options are added regularly!
Why Group Classes?
Group classes offer something private lessons can't: the magic of learning together.
Built-In Support System
There's something special about learning alongside other kids who are figuring it out at the same time. They encourage each other, celebrate each other, and make the whole thing feel a lot less scary than going it alone.
Learn by Doing
Group classes at FAME are hands-on from day one. Kids don't sit and watch — they participate, play, and perform. Every single class.
Low-Pressure Exploration
Not sure if your child is ready to commit to private lessons? Group classes are the perfect way to try something new — low stakes, lots of fun, and a great way to find out what they love.
The FAME Difference
Like everything we do, group classes are completely non-competitive. No rankings, no pressure, no comparison. Just a room full of kids doing something they love, getting better at it together.

Ages: Kindergarten through 8th grade (same as our other programs)

How to sign up:
Check the current semester's group class schedule in your Parent Portal and register for any class that fits your schedule.
Not Yet Enrolled?
Group classes are included with our Troupe and After School programs. Two of the best ways to experience everything FAME has to offer.
Music Theatre Troupe
Kids and Junior Troupe meet twice a week to rehearse and perform a full musical each semester. Troupe tuition includes unlimited group class access — so your child can explore singing, acting, instruments, and more.
After School Program
We pick up your child from school and bring them to FAME for an afternoon of performing arts. After-school tuition also includes group class access (limited for part-time students) as part of the program.
What Parents
Are Saying
K. Dellinger
(Kids Troupe, Jr Troupe, Voice Class, Voice Lessons, and Summer Camp)
"Fame Performing Arts is one of my favorite local businesses in Mount Pleasant. As a Fame mom, I’ve gotten to see my 9yo daughter learn and grow and gain so much confidence over the last 3 seasons she’s participated in Kids Troupe.
I love the culture here, it is inclusive and welcoming and instills a love for performing in children. So much of school and extracurricular activities nowadays put so much stress and pressure on our children. It’s so refreshing to see my daughter able to just have fun, find her voice, move her body, and muster up the courage to be onstage in front of her peers and total strangers.
Even my older daughter who has traditionally done sports and shied away from theatre/dance signed up for Jr Troupe this fall and she’s loved it so far! We love all of the teachers, our incredible director, Mary Freeman Mitchell, and consider ourselves SO lucky to have landed a coveted spot in Jen’s private voice lessons.
Our daughters have also participated in FAME's summer camps, which were fun, enriching, and featured an adorable end of week performance. Fame’s After School program is a huge asset to us parents with bussing straight to the studio from the schools. I’m immensely grateful to be part of this community and for my daughters to have this kind of program available to them here!!"

(Jr Troupe, Voice Lessons, and Summer Camp)
"Ms. Mary has been such an important part of my daughter AnnaGrace’s life over the years. She started in the program when she was around eight, and it’s been incredible to watch her confidence, creativity, and love for performing grow under Ms. Mary’s guidance.
What really stands out is how genuinely invested Ms. Mary is in each child. She creates a space where kids feel safe to express themselves, take risks, and truly find their voice. AnnaGrace has not only developed her skills in drama, but she’s also grown personally in ways that go far beyond the stage. The summer camps and ongoing programs have always been something she looks forward to, and that says everything. We’re so grateful for the care, encouragement, and passion Ms. Mary brings to her work, it truly makes a lasting impact."

"A welcoming and warm place for a child to embrace who they are and learn how to shine with confidence.
Mary, Jen, and the staff are inclusive and caring. Attentive to any concerns or questions I have had. My child has thoroughly enjoyed every summer camp, group and private lessons, and spending after school at FAME."
