Matilda Audition FAQ's
When are Matilda Auditions?
Auditions will be held Friday, May 17 from 4:30-6:30pm in the studio. If your student is unable to make the audition date, please let us know via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Does my student have to audition to be in the show? Auditions are only required for students interested in a lead or speaking role.
What should your student prepare for auditions? Students should sing 1 minute of a song their top choice role sings in the show. If the student's top choice role doesn't sing a song, they can sing 1 minute of any musical theater song. If your student needs help preparing their audition song, you can email email@example.com to set up private lessons with one of our teachers. Note: students may also be asked to read from the script.
What should your student wear to auditions? The most important thing is for students to be comfortable. If they're wearing clothes that they are uncomfortable in or that distract them (i.e.- bulky clothes, clothes that are too big), casting directors will be distracted too. Extra points if their dress helps casting directors to see students as their top choice character!
How long will auditions take? We will audition students in the order that they sign-in. Upon arrival, students should sign in at the front desk. From there, students will wait to be called into the audition room. Each audition should take no more than 5 minutes.
